Build a profound relationship with your companion dog.

I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA). This designation through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT) is the only international, standardized certification available to dog trainers that is both independent of any course of study and is psychometrically sound.

I'm a certified level one Third Way Trainer; earning special recognition for outstanding performance. Chris Bach's unique and insightful teachings are incorporated into many aspects of my training.

I worked in a veterinary clinic and over the years I have learned perspectives and techniques of many different dog trainers through hands on experience, seminars, books and media.

Outside of canine study and experience, I have worked as an applied behaviour analysis therapist (ABA Therapist) and I have studied aspects of human behaviour that also apply to canines.  This additional knowledge of behaviour, social development and teaching techniques has given me a unique perspective.  Understanding the importance of developing positive episodic memories, co-regulation, task competence, communication and emotional intelligence can greatly enhance training and the human-dog relationship.

Every dog is an individual and a good trainer knows she/he must be ready to use an array of different approaches, tools and techniques (none of which should undermine your relationship with your dog). Based upon the needs of dogs and their owners I work with clients to establish training and handling techniques that work for them. The main areas of focus are behaviour prevention, behaviour modification, obedience, etiquette and the development of deference and bonding.

I look forward to working with you and your dog,

Julie Lawson CPDT-KA
